Sea Slug Jewellery
Showcasing my skills from the last two years, this collection was created for my final Fine Jewellery Diploma project.
My inspiration has been ignited by the stunning colours, shapes and textures from the ocean. When I came across the beautiful Nudibranch (sea Slugs) I knew I wanted to find a way to use them in my jewellery.
There are thousands of varieties of Nudibranch, and more are being discovered all the time, but my favourite is the Lettuce Sea Slug and this is the variety I have based my collection on.
I am planning to add more items to the collection and variations of the pieces already created.

Lettuce Nudibrach
The frills and curves of the Lettuce Nudibranch really captured my imagination. I loved the shapes and colours within them and and wanted to try and replicate within some jewellery.
I have created a necklace, ring and hoop earrings so far but am hoping to experiment with more items soon.

Statement Necklace
A Large Sea Slug has been hand carved from silver sheet to create a statement necklace.
The chain is made from silver wire which has been shaped, fused and reticulated to give an organic feel and was inspired by coral.
Finally the sea slug has been adorned with amethysts and peridot, giving a nod to the colours of the nudibranch and finished with edges in 24k gold foil.

Sea Slug Ring
Like the statement necklace, this sea slug has also been carved directly from sheet silver.
The ring was the first of the nudibranch I created and I loved the shape of this so much.
I immediately envisioned the edges in gold but I also knew that gemstones would detract from the shape of this and therefore have decided not to include any.
The sea slug is sitting on top of a split ring band for stability and the edges are in 24k gold.

Sea Slug Hoop Earrings
Unlike the other nudibranch, these hoop earrings were initially carved from wax before being cast in silver. I couldn't think of how to create these in another way and it has worked really well.
The hoops, although not actual nudibranch replicas, have captured the frills and movement.
Also edged in 24k gold and with butterfly back fastenings.
